How it works

A hosted switchboard, without the hardware

Your telephone switchboard runs on servers in our UK data centre instead of a box in your comms cupboard. Handsets connect over the broadband you already have, and every call travels across that same connection.

There is nothing on site to service, and changes happen in software rather than an engineer visit. Bandwidth is the only real ceiling — a typical business line carries up to 30 simultaneous calls, the capacity of 30 traditional lines without 30 line rentals.

The call journey

What happens between the ring and the answer

Four seconds of work you never see. Here is the route a call takes from the moment a customer dials to the moment somebody says hello.

1

A customer dials your number

One number on the van, the website and the invoice — however many people sit behind it.

Ringing
2

The switchboard answers

It lives in our UK data centre, so nothing in your building has to be working for the call to land.

Connected
3

Your rules decide where it goes

Time of day, which number was dialled, which team is free, what the caller picked from the menu.

Routing
4

It rings wherever the person is

Desk, mobile or Microsoft Teams — at once or one after another. The caller never knows the difference.

The feature set

Built around how businesses actually take calls

Every feature below ships with the platform. Turn on what you need, leave the rest — the price does not change either way.

The Basics

Hold, transfer, three-way calling, call waiting, do not disturb, speed dials and a shared company directory. The everyday tools sit on every extension rather than behind an upgrade.

Call Handling

Decide exactly how a call moves through the business. Route by team, time of day or the number dialled. Add menus, ring groups and hunt sequences, and send after-hours calls to voicemail or a mobile.

Call Centre Tools

Queues, live agent status, wall boards and reporting on call volumes and answer times — without buying a separate contact centre platform or paying per seat for the metrics.

Call Recording

Record every call, or only the extensions that need it. Recordings are stored securely in the customer portal and download on demand for training, dispute resolution and compliance evidence.

Handsets & Devices

Compatible with a wide range of desk phones, from budget models with the essentials to video-capable units. Add DECT for staff on the move, or skip handsets altogether and run on apps.

Flexibility & compatibility

A system that bends around how you work

Grow, shrink, move offices or go fully remote without replacing anything you have already paid for.

Flexibility

Scales Both Ways

Start with one extension and grow to thousands, then scale back down when the season changes. No forklift upgrades and no stranded equipment on the balance sheet.

Numbers From Any Area Code

Take a geographic number from anywhere in the UK for a local presence, or an 0800 and 0345 number for national reach. Existing numbers port across and keep ringing.

Multi-Site & Remote Teams

Link offices, home workers and overseas staff onto one system. Calls between sites cost nothing and extensions dial each other directly, wherever the person happens to be sitting.

Compatibility

Mobile Apps

iOS and Android apps put the business number in a pocket. Staff answer as their extension, transfer to a colleague and keep personal numbers private.

Softphones

Windows and macOS apps turn the computers you already own into full extensions — a practical answer for teams that would rather not buy a handset for every desk.

Microsoft Teams

Direct Routing brings external calls inside Teams, so staff who already live in Teams all day make and take business calls without switching windows.

Can it do this?

Thirty things you can do from day one

The questions we get asked most, answered in one list. Start typing to find the one you came for.

Greet callers with a recorded announcement Ring every phone in the office at once Ring phones one after another in a set order Play music or messages while callers wait Build a multi-level auto attendant menu Let callers route themselves by speaking Divert to a second phone when the first is busy Record inbound and outbound calls Tell callers their position in the queue Block nuisance and unwanted numbers Pick up voicemail from anywhere Turn a mobile into a desk extension Keep the phone numbers you already advertise Register several devices to one extension Make and take calls inside Microsoft Teams Fast-track a list of priority callers Keep a blacklist of barred numbers Run conference calls without a separate service Share one directory across every phone Divert to a mobile outside office hours Get voicemail delivered straight to email Add a business line to a home broadband Run two brands from a single handset Choose a memorable number worth advertising See which advertised number people call Spot the calls a team is missing Measure how long callers wait to be answered Compare call volumes across the team Click a number on screen to dial it Set separate call rules for bank holidays

Nothing matches that search — but it may still be possible. Ask us and we will tell you straight.

Not on the list? Ask anyway.

Most of what customers ask for already exists somewhere in the platform, and the rest we build. Tell us what your calls need to do and we will tell you whether it is a setting, a project, or genuinely not possible.

Have Any Questions? We’re Here to Answer

These are a few common questions that businesses have for us before they switch to our VoIP and broadband services.

Are all these features included, or do some cost extra?

Everything on this page ships with the platform. There is no feature tier to upgrade to and no per-feature add-on — call recording, queues, reporting and the mobile apps sit on the same account as a basic extension. You pay for the number of users you have, not for the list of things you might switch on.

Yes. Existing numbers port across to the new system, including numbers currently with another provider. The port itself takes a few working days once the paperwork is signed, and calls keep arriving on the old line right up until the switchover — so there is no window where customers ring a dead number.

Calls stop arriving at the handsets, but they do not disappear. Because the switchboard sits in the data centre rather than in your building, it carries on answering and can be set to divert everything to mobiles, an alternative site or voicemail until the line is back. That failover is configured when the system is set up, so it happens automatically rather than needing someone to phone us in a panic.

Not necessarily. The system works with a wide range of desk phones if you want them, but staff can run entirely on the mobile app, a laptop softphone or Microsoft Teams instead. Most businesses land somewhere in the middle — handsets on the desks that take constant calls, apps for everyone else.
